Scouts

Scout is the fourth section in the scouting family, and is typically seen as the original section.  Scouts are typically 10½ to 14 years old. As an active scout troop, we get up to all sorts of exciting and adventurous activities, both in our regular meetings and on camps and visits.

If you as a young person or adult would like to get involved, please follow the Contact Us link and get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

What do Scouts do?

Scouts are at an age where they can experience the true adventure that scouting has to offer. At our weekly meetings we learn and discuss a huge variety of topics, often leading to badges and awards.  Topics can include anything from IT, first aid, expedition planning, navigation/camping skills, safe use of knives and axes, staying safe online, communication skills, astronomy, photography and many more. Activities outside the Hut might include abseiling, kayaking, climbing, sailing, hiking, raft building, campfire building, outdoors cooking and camping. We aim to give scouts a wide range of experiences which complement the schools curriculum, and help them develop new skills and a sense of independence and confidence.

Scout Leaders

Leader: Mark

Likes: Canoeing and hiking

Assistant Leader: Simon, Gill, David, Amanda

Our leadership team is entirely made up of volunteers who enjoy running scouts meetings! All adult leaders have training and a DBS check, and there is always at least one adult who is first aid qualified.

If you would like the opportunity to do something you’d never thought of doing, while having lots of fun and giving back to the community at the same time, please get in touch – we can always do with more leaders!

Scout Badges

Scouts have challenge badges, that work towards their Chief Scouts Gold badge, and over seventy activity badges that let them discover many new activities.  If your scout is awarded a badge, please sew it on their shirt as shown below. More information about the badge scheme can be found on the scouts.org.uk website.
